A fixed bridge involves replacing a missing tooth using the teeth on either side of the gap as anchors or abutments. The false tooth is called a pontic. The bridge is tooth colored and permanently cemented into place. Fixed bridges prevent remaining teeth from drifting out of position and restores the ability to properly chew and speak.
The cost of the dental bridge depends on how many teeth are being replaced. Most insurance covers a percentage of the cost depending on the individual dental plan. Most insurance plans do not pay for replacing the missing tooth if missing prior to going on the dental insurance.
