Extractions are performed for a wide variety of reasons, including tooth decay that has destoyed enough tooth structure to render the tooth non-restorable. Simple or routine extractions are performed on teeth that are visible in the mouth, usually under local anaesthetic, and require only the use of instruments to elevate the visible portion of the tooth. Surgical extractions involve the removal of teeth that cannot be easily accessed, either because they have broken below the gum line or have not fully erupted. Sutures or stiches are almost always required. You will be seen again in one week to have the sutures removed. Most surgical extractions are performed under local anaesthetic. Nitrous Oxide is available in our office upon your request. Dr. Coulter, with his advance training in oral surgery, will make your experience a positive one.
